Jobs Open For Application at IKEA North Lakes

If you happened to have missed it, Chanel 7 News have reported that IKEA North Lakes will be advertising over 250 new job positions starting next month. 

We'd like to correct that by letting you know as we've done a few months ago, that positions for the North Lakes location are being advertised currently. We have tracked them down over the last few months and have been advertising them for the convenience of the job seeking community on our Jobs Page and Facebook page. Some of these Ads have already expired but there are still more available.

Good News For Deception Bay School Goers

A new partnership struck between the Palaszczuk Government and Telstra will see Deception Bay State School students connecting to the Internet faster than ever before.

Chris Whiting MP, Member for Murrumba said the $137 million partnership with Telstra would connect more than 450 Queensland state schools to the high speed fibre optic cable network, bringing the total number of connected state schools to more than 1000.

 “I’m excited by the potential of this partnership to open up new possibilities for students at Deception Bay State School,” Mr Whiting said.

Confirmed Win For Rothwell Roundabout Upgrade

A State Government announcement over the long weekend has confirmed funding for an upgrade to the Rothwell roundabout.

The announcement has come following Luke Howarth MP’s year-long campaign, which culminated with a visit from State Opposition Minister for Main Roads, the Hon Fiona Simpson MP.

“I invited Fiona to Rothwell to help me pressure the State Government to confirm funding and get the project started,” said Luke Howarth MP.

Country Of Origin Food Labelling Reform

Local shoppers will start to see new labels pop up on food products from July, following an agreement on Country of Origin food labelling reforms.

Federal Member for Petrie, Luke Howarth MP, said the Commonwealth Government’s agreement with the states and territories has come after decades of frustration. “For years, consumers have had to put up with misleading and confusing food labels.

“This new system will provide the clarity shoppers deserve, importantly without imposing an excessive burden on businesses.”

New Council Sworn In For The Moreton Bay Region

The Moreton Bay Region’s newly elected council has been formally sworn in at a post-election meeting at the Strathpine Community Centre on Monday, including the highest number of female councillors ever elected to serve the Moreton Bay Regional Council.

It was nice to see our Division 4 local advocate Julie Greer among the smiling faces once again.
