The Petrie Electorate Christmas Card Competition is back by popular demand!

Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP is encouraging all children attending an early learning centre in the Petrie Electorate to enter.

“I launched the competition last year to bring families closer together during the Christmas season.

North Lakes Beefy’s Pies have taken out the award as the best ‘Gluten Free Category Winner’ at the national Great Aussie Pie Competition held at the Fine Food Festival this week.

A break and enter occurred in the morning on September 19 on Anzac Avenue, Kallangur by pulling off a screen door and stealing cars keys that were recovered.

An attempted break and enter occurred overnight on September 19 on Cedrela Crescent, Bray Park by jimmying open a glass door. No entry was gained.

Shared User Path Lighting: Mango Hill And Mango Hill East Station Precints

Throughout October 2015, recently installed lighting along the shared user path will be finalised and become operational between the Bruce Highway and Mango Hill East station (refer to the map above). 

Work to commission the lighting will involve:

 Trenching, installing and connecting underground conduits into the nearest electrical pillar(s) in the area including into existing local street pathway connections.

 Temporary short-term power outages to surrounding properties. The service provider will provide notification of any scheduled power outages to affected properties. 

 Construction vehicles entering and exiting local streets adjacent to the rail corridor to carry out this work.

The North Lakes Library will have all the makings of a murder mystery on its first birthday when critically-acclaimed “master of the psychological thriller” Michael Robotham reveals the 11th instalment in his award-winning book series.

The Australian journalist turned author will join audiences on September 23 from 6.30pm to help mark the Corso library’s big day and tell the story of brilliant psychologist Joe O’Loughlin in Close Your Eyes, Robtham’s latest novel that has critics raving.

Moreton Bay Region Jobs Continue To Grow

8000 new jobs have been created in the Moreton Bay region in the past 12 months, Treasurer and Employment Minister Curtis Pitt said today.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ regional labour force report released today showed a 2.2 percentage points drop in the unemployment rate for the Moreton Bay region in the past year.

Mr Pitt said the Government would continue to push programs to keep the jobs momentum going.

“Jobs are the Palaszczuk Government’s number one priority and we’re serious about putting Queenslanders back to work,” Mr Pitt said.

Progress Continues On Boundary Road Interchange

Expressions of interest are now open for the $105 million upgrade of the Boundary Road Interchange near Narangba.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said prequalified construction companies could now register their interest in the project, which will focus on construction of a new six-lane bridge over the highway.

“The upgrade will boost the interchange’s capacity and enhance safety for motorists who use this section of the highway. As an added bonus, pedestrians and cyclists will have improved access,” Mr Truss said.

Work Starts On Final Section Of North South Arterial Road North Lakes

Construction work is about to start on the final stage of a multi-million dollar infrastructure project along the North South Arterial Road - designed to enhance traffic flow and reduce travelling times at North Lakes.

The $11 million final stage of the North South Arterial Road stretches from Discovery Drive to Endeavour Boulevard and includes a bridge over Copeland Drive. 

Work is due to start on the stage in the coming weeks with the 1.5km section of road expected to be completed in around nine months, weather permitting.
