Mumber for Murrumba Calls on North Lakes & Deception Bay

Chis Whiting MP called on North Lakes and Deception Bay’s budding young firies, police and surf lifesavers to be part of the Emergency Services Cadet Program (ESCP).

“So many young Queenslanders dream about being a police officer or fire fighter, and the ESCP lets them try it out. The Palaszczuk Government set aside $310,000 this year to ensure this vital, but little-known program is able to continue this year,” Chris Whiting said.

New Facilities for St Benedict’s College

Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP has officially opened stage two building works at St Benedict’s College, Mango Hill.

Students and staff at St Benedict’s now have full use of their new extended administration area, a library, nine general classrooms, two music, dance and drama rooms, two visual arts rooms, two industrial arts rooms, four science rooms and two laboratory prep rooms, a physical education covered area, IT services area, learning support area, pupil amenities and associated walkways.

The Australian Government provided $608,689 in funding from the Capital Grants Programme.

Stockland has unveiled a stunning collection of rare home sites at its premium golfing precinct at North Lakes with exclusive home sites offering lush green views in two directions.

St Benedicts College: Stage Two Now Open

Chris Whiting MP today helped open a range of new facilities including nine new classrooms and a new library at St Benedict’s College at Mango Hill.

Mr Whiting said the State Government contributed more than $6.6 million towards the Stage 2 of the new school’s development.

“St Benedict’s now has the infrastructure it needs to welcome all Year levels from 7 to 12 in the coming two years,” he said.

A break and enter occurred in the afternoon on August 15 on Brickworks Road, Kallangur by damaging a front door. Nil property was stolen.

Roundabout Upgrades for North Lakes

Six major roundabouts at North Lakes are set to be upgraded as part of a $409,000 road project tender by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Division Four Councillor Julie Greer said roundabouts on Memorial Drive and Discovery Drive, and their approaches, would be upgraded with new asphalt surfacing and line marking.

“More than 12,000 motorists already use Discover Drive each day, while 7,740 use Memorial Drive every day, and these upgrades will help ensure that our road networks remain safe for all users including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists,” Cr Greer said.

North Lakes Urged To Help Eliminate Domestic & Family Violence

Chris Whiting MP - Member for Murrumba is urging the North Lakes community to take up the challenge to eliminate domestic and family violence. 

The Queensland Government has accepted all 140 recommendations in the Honourable Quentin Bryce’s Not Now, Not Ever report into domestic and family violence, with its response providing the framework for wide-ranging legal, social and cultural change.

Mango Hill Construction Update

Construction activity in the Mango Hill stations precinct is progressing well, with work on the rail corridor and station structures fast approaching completion. During August and September, you will see the following activities occur within the Mango Hill stations precinct.

Rail corridor (Bruce Highway to Mango Hill station)

Work to install and tension overhead wiring for the new rail system is underway and expected to be completed during August. Activities will then be undertaken to test and commission the new overhead wiring equipment, which is expected to take approximately one month to complete.

Local Petition to 'Boost the Bruce'

Almost 20,000 petition flyers will hit letterboxes in North Lakes and surrounding suburbs this week, to launch Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP’s Boost the Bruce campaign.

Luke Howarth MP has joined with Federal Members Peter Dutton (Dickson), Wyatt Roy (Longman), Mal Brough (Fisher) and Queensland Liberal Senator James McGrath to push for the Bruce Highway to be widened to at least six lanes between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

They also want to see the Gateway Motorway improved from Deagon Deviation to the Bruce Highway, saying both upgrades would help bust costly and frustrating congestion.
