Volunteers Needed at the PCYC

PCYC is an entirely not for profit organisation and they rely on community support and coroporate sponsorship that enables PCYC to deliver youth, leadership development and crime prevention programs. 

PCYC Deception Bay is seeking skilled volunteers to assist with aspects of their operations. They have a range of activities for people to get involved in, depending on their time commitments and experience level, including:

  • Reception/Administration
  • Event Coordinating
  • Event Supervisors e.g. Blue Light Disco
  • Fundraising e.g. raffles, BBQs
  • School Age Care assistance – light rigid licence required

Remax Connected North Lakes are encouraging local house owners and their families to join in to win a $25,000 holiday anywhere in the world where a Remax office is located.  

The competition 'Make an Ad to Sell Your Pad' explains that you don't need to be selling your home to enter, just take them on a video tour of your place with renovation triumphs, the gourmet kitchens and the gardens you love so much.  They want you to make it wacky, weird and wonderful.

More Restaurants in North Lakes

The first Sushi Train and Japanese restaurant in North Lakes outside of the Westfield Shopping Centre has opened it's doors this week.

A sushi train is where the plates with the sushi are placed on a rotating conveyor belt that winds through the restaurant and moves past every table and counter seat. Customers may place special orders, but most simply pick their selections from a steady stream of fresh sushi moving along the conveyor belt. The final bill is based on the number and type of plates of the consumed sushi.

Lazer Tag Tournament for over 12's

Game On Family Fun Centre in North Lakes are holding a Lazer Tag Tournament for over 12's these school holidays on Thursday 10 July from 6pm-9pm. So get your children to organise a group of 5 per team and enter them in for a great evening of fun. (Individuals can register too and Game On will make up a team).

The cost is $15 per person with a minimum of two games for each team.  When the teams are waiting for their games there will be a disco happening upstairs in the function room.

Moreton Bay Rail Project Update - June

PROJECT UPDATE

A massive 371,000 cubic metres of material has been moved from the project’s biggest excavation at Petrie – that’s the equivalent of over 88 Olympic sized swimming pools! The material is then re-used at other locations along the rail corridor to build up the rail embankment. We’ve also cleared majority of the vegetation. It’s been a slow process, but that’s because of the care taken to make sure the local fauna is protected. Petbarn Opens in North Lakes

The brand new Petbarn has it's Grand Opening in North Lakes this weekend.  With a minimum 20% off storewide you are sure to grab a bargain.

To celebrate their opening there will be a jumping castle, petting zoo, BBQ fund raiser for Koala Rescue, reptile demonstration, face painting and pet food nutritionist.  So make sure you go along and join in the fun.

Hands on Early Childhood Training Comes to North Lakes

Passionate about developing capability in the Early Childhood workforce, North Lakes residents Andrea Isitt and Cindy Donald established First Door Training and Development to meet the professional development needs of the Early Childhood industry.

Based in North Lakes, First Door facilitates fortnightly workshops to meet educators and leaders professional development needs. Andrea Isitt explained, “First Door has a ‘hands on and active learning’ approach. We recognise the value of students having workplace experiences, conversations, reflection and opportunities to practise skills.”
