We emigrated over in sep06 from portsmouth but originsally from battersea, london i have 3 kids in y7, y5, y3 at north lakes state college, i am looking for part time work but need to know about vaction care in the area for my kids when i am at work during the holidays, does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions.

Good luck with the care. I had managed to get  my girls to a vacation care programme over the holidays at a day care centre at Rothwell. The problem was that it was costing me a fortune. I have a great rate of Child Care Benefit from the government (this is availble to all persons) It was still costing me $25.00 per day plus excursions costs. I worked a total of 9 days in a three week period and earned $625.00 - it did cost me $375.00 for the care of my two children. I cannot justify the cost considering the cost of fuel etc.  It is very frustrating...a school of it's size and no assistance in sight....I wish you luck....

hi have exactly the same problem and i work 3 days a week it is hard as have no family here and friends work aswell!
Iwould be interested in doing a swap if anyone is interested i look after theiir children tue and wed in hols and they hv mine mon thurs and fri.
looked in to childcare costs and for 2 kids not worth me working!

I am new to the area as well and have had to withdraw from two job interviews because of the hours. My son goes to Southern Cross Catholic College and I am having trouble sorting out a bus for him to travel on - apparently they do not come past the main street of North Lakes. We are considering a nanny to pick them up and drop them off at school as our daughter is at Rothwell in day care. Can anyone help with nanny information or bus information that could help me... please - we are in the same vote with no family here.

Hi "New to area"... which campus does your son go to? Is it the one at Kipparing? I drive past there from North Lakes each school day to take my child to Margate - so the Kipparing one is on my way...
