Hi, I have always wondered why the Brits put a tub in the sink and wash up in it, rather than the sink itself????

I wold love to know the answer to this one... my family in the UK does it but they can't explain why.. it's weird

maybe because its unhealthy when you think of all the waste you pour down your sink, you dont want that on your dshes do you?

There are a number of reasons. The water goes cold too quickly in the sink, especially if you have a ceramic sink. The bowl is usually smaller than the sink so you don't need to fill up a large sink with a load of hot water. And, you quite often don't have a double sink, so you can still pour stuff out around the edges of the basin. I don't think hygeine is a particularly big factor in it...

Hi, yes we use a plastic bowl inside our sink.The main reason is so it doesn't scratch the stainless steel sink itself - secondly though, you use less water to wash up in & you can lift the bowl out with your gear in it if need be. I can't believe i'm answering this question!
