Some weeks back you may have seen an orange and blue van along Discovery Drive advertising a fitness camp. Well I decided to join along with a number of other residents. The response was so great that the fitness camp is running morning and night each Tuesday and Thursday. For me hours in front of a computer keyboard each day have not been kind to my general fitness. The first night involved an endurance test to gauge where our fitness is at. Currently I’m ranked just above ‘clinically dead’.

I would like to respond concerning Scott’s comment re: BOOT CAMP. I am also a local resident that has signed up for this. What a fantastic idea! Both myself and my wifeI have been living in NL's for 3 years now and have said to each other for sometime that we should do something like this. Unfortunately my wife is pregnant, however I have signed up. We are into the 5 night now and I am actually enjoying it and really looking forward to going (yes I am glutton for punishment!). I am also meeting such great people from NL's as well. This is just an added bonus to getting fit.

Regarding comments on 'Breaking Point'. I am one of the trainers at the Northlakes Breaking Point Boot Camp, and would just like to mention how well everyone is doing.

What a fantastic, talented and community minded group Northlakes has produced for this 10 week adventure. Sure, many of them have actually gone beyond 'breaking point' and closer to 'clinically dead' as Scott so hilariously mentioned, but from a trainers point of view you couldn't ask for a more committed and hard working team.

Don't worry if you missed out on this boot camp, as we will be starting another one as soon as this 10 week cycle has finished. In the mean time, feel free to give me a call (0433171979) or come down and check out the action when you next see us out and about on those brisk Tuesday and Thursday mornings and evenings!

You can also undergo personal training with your choice of a male or female trainer!

Hang in their lads, you're doing a great job and the intensity only gets higher from here!

Hey Darren.....North Lakes is two words not one. Northlakes (one word) is located in the Northern Territory where North Lakes (two words) is located here in Queensland.

BTW - How much is the 10 week boot camp?

We have seen many comments (positive i must add) concerning "residents hit 'breaking point'".  I would like to add my additional views.  I am now into the 7th week completing this boot/fitness camp experience.  I can't believe how well i feel and how fit i am getting.  Each Tuesday and Thursday we arrive to a new challenge, and it is fantastic to see the support from both Darren and Rowena.  These trainers are both personable and motivational. If you are thinking of joining a gym or wanting to get fit, maybe it might be better for you to do this local boot camp exerience instead.

The people you meet and possibly make long term friendships is amazing!  Each participant within the morning and night groups are supportive, understanding and motivating to ensure that your experience is a positive one.  Climbing of Mt Beerburrum was an experience, however we made it - see the photo's that Mr Northlakes.com.au has placed on the forums, or go to Darren's website - www.breakingpoint.com.au to see more photo's from the day.

I would strongly recommend anyone who is wanting to do something different to give this a try.

Hi Baulko,

Mate you are 100% correct regarding the spelling of North Lakes and I have never doubted or been confused about it's true spelling. It's just on that particular day when writing my comment we had trained exceptionally hard and I was conserving energy by using the space bar as little as possible. I cxan asure you that all over my website it is spelled correctly!

My apologies, and i promise it won't happen again!

Regarding the pricing, I am dropping the price for the next boot camp as we have had such a great response. For the next 10 weeks cycle it will be $360 paid upfront which works out at under $18 a session. It becomes cheaper if you join with a friend also.

Further to that you have the option of paying using our direct debit facility for a slightly higher price of $20 a session.

Cheers!

Darren

All this talk of fitness whilst eating cheesecake at work lol. I have been meaning to get back into a fitness regimen for some time now and this sounds like just the thing.

Will certainly be looking in to it further

Yes pyrotix you should join - 22nd July is the next starting date. I'm coming back for more. Apparently it takes more than 10 weeks to reverse 14 years of bodily neglect.

Sounds tiring. I've got a 5 week old baby that takes care of that. Maybe when she gets a bit older... like 27. I'll be retired by then.

We've just finished the first 10 week Breaking Point fitness camp and everyone did a great job! At the end we received a graph with where we were at the beginning (overweight and unfit in my case) and where we are now (fitter and lighter).

It is very satifying to come so far in 10 weeks and I would really encourage anyone thinking about joining to do so. There are a number of us continuing for another 10 weeks to help reach our personal goals starting soon on the 22 July.

Remember that this is a fitness camp not a bootcamp. Darren & Rowena (the trainers) don't stand there screaming at you like the Biggest Loser's "Commando". (Although if that's what you're into I'm sure something can be arranged). You'll still get pushed and encouraged but the whole experience is more civil.

Ladies, encourage your man to do this. If there's more of him then when you first met then perhaps some time with Breaking Point is in order  My wife also says that my snoring has stopped (not that I ever snored).

It is a very professionally equipped and run business and well worth the money.

I started the 10 weeks at 117kgs and I've lost 7.5kgs so if I can move my substanial personage around anyone can ! For more information go to www.breakingpoint.com.au

I swear, every time I read one of these posts about fitness, I'm stuffing my mouth with something unhealthy.

AJ and myself are both signed up and I know I'm so going to get drilled. I've gone from been able to run 2.4km in 12 mins to be lucky to make it to the footpath and back without getting tired.

So without a doubt this is going to be a challenge. Having said that, I just know AJ will run circles around me

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would take this opportunity to remind you that the next Breaking Point Boot Camp is starting on Tuesday 30th September! That's less than a week away!

Today has seen everyone completing their fitness assessments after a tough 10 weeks of training. This morning produced some record times around the lake of approx 5 1/2 minutes. Well done guys!

Also, check out the photos on www.breakingpoint.com.au of the Northlakes Cup Challenge Day between the morning and evening boot camp groups. This was held on saturday just past and the evening group just scraped in for a victory.

Give me a call to sign up! 0433 171 979. I know you want to be part of this!

Darren
