Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a good brand of lawn spray to keep the weeds down. Now with the heat and a little bit of rain my lawn is out of control. I bought the yates hose on spray from coles, but it didn't seem to help much. I really don't want to have to pull them all out.

 I suggest Feed and Weed. It is available at the supermarket and hardware stores.

Depends on the type of weed, careful when treating broadleaf weeds with grasses like buffalo because it can kill the lawn. Find out the type of lawn first before spraying, odds on it's ok but you don't want to spray something that turns the lawn into a dustbowl. Also, I've noticed in queensland that they tend to cut the lawn really short during summer, which is generally a bad thing as it exposes the soil to the sun more and dries it out. They should really take of the top 1/3 and leave some ground shade during the summer months, otherwise it'll be brown all the time. It also protects against weed growth to a certain extent. Also, if you have neighbours with lawns full of weeds then you have an uphill battle on your hands because the seeds will just populate your grass when the wind blows it over.

It's probably a good idea not to mow to short although it is tempting when the lawn seems to grow so fast. Another idea I have heard recently is trying to mow more regularly so the weeds don't get a chance to mature and spread new seeds.

Well, the recent rain has certainly fixed up the brown patches on the lawn! yay!

I have a friend who recently left her two children with her mother as her new husband who was a very bad and might i say simple man didn't like them. My dilemma ? it's that the children have been left with a woman that goes on explicit sex chat lines and has recently been caught by centrelink for thounds of dollars worthof fraud. i believe the kids are not in good hands. With either one of them. should i report them to welfare???can any one help.?

You really need to report it. I have a friend who is social worker who used to work in this area.

The lives (and safety) of the children are always the most important issue.

I kinda felt sorry for the real old lady. I had no idea she was like that when i met her. It's sad for all involved especially that beautiful little boy.
