MORETON Bay Regional Councillor Julie Greer (Division4) has called on TransLink to reconsider plans for its $3.8million State Government-funded North Lakes bus interchange, after TransLink revealed no car parking would be provided for commuters.

Cr Greer said she was concerned the lack of parking would cause commuters to park at Westfield North Lakes, and speed up the introduction of paid parking at the centre.

A TransLink spokesman said a park-and-ride component would add to congestion in the area, and suggested commuters drive to a train station and catch a bus from there to North Lakes instead of parking locally.

I work across the road from where they are planning on making this bus station.

There are barely enough parking spaces near the school/swimming pool and the budget direct insurance building for those who parked there regularly at present.

You add in a bus station and good bye parking for the employees and students in that area. This too is prior to move businesses being built around there.

If you plan to invest this much in a place that is a 'pull up station' for archaic buses, then invest some time in thinking how people will general get to said bus station and why...
