Hi All,

We have been in North Lakes for 6 months now and we are very happy here.
I am in the process of looking for a Prep placement for my son who has autism, and I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the support given to special needs kids in the schools in or near North Lakes.

Any opinions / advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you
Annelize

Hi Annelize
I dont have any personal experience, however I know a family who had their daughter with Autism, enrolled in North Lakes State College, they have had to take her out of the school as they found the school did not cater to her needs.
She is now going to St Patricks at Shorncliffe.
Hope this helps.

North Lakes State College DO have a special needs area, it's located in the old Admin building, as for what they offer and how often you would need to contact the school. Tina Burrows is in charge of Special Ed Dept. at North Lakes State College.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your replies. I have spoken to North Lakes State College, but as we don't fall within their catchment area (we are in Fairway Chase) they didn't sound very optimistic that my son would get a placement there.

Does anyone have children in the Dakabin State School? I would be interested in hearing your opinion. I am obviously planning to visit the schools, but first I am just trying to get to a reasonable list of schools to visit.

Thank you!

StPats??? for a girl?? It is an all boys school.

Annelize, try Undurba State School. Ogg Road, Murrumba Downs. Our son has ASD and is in grade 5, he has gone there since pre-school.

Good Luck!
