So, here it is - the new mums thread - ironically created by a dad. A dad who knows that his DW stays home day after day looking after Little Miss S (age 1) and rarely gets to go anywhere socially.

So to all the currently enlisted members: wic300, Miriam, sistersoph, chanelle, cheandjo, Ms.Jo (...have I forgotten anyone?) - you can get the ball rolling.

To anyone else who wants to join in - Welcome !

Right. Now that's taken care of, I've got some man stuff to attend to... umm... ah that's right, I'm going to go watch Top Gear and eat some junk food.

Hi girls....well we're all moved in and thank goodness! I will definitely not let the hubby talk me into doing all the work ourselves next time....will definitely be hiring a removalist!! We're all settled in and absolutely loving our new home, our street (the neighbours are all really lovely), and North Lakes as a whole .
On a completely different note...
I've been sent complimentary tickets to the Pregnancy, Baby and Children's Expo being held at the Southbank Convention Centre from 19th - 21st June. I thought I'd take the kids and go check it out, so if any of you would like to join me or even if you would just like some tickets to go on your own, let me know and I'll give you your tickets when I see you on Thursday. (They are multi-day adult tickets so you can come and go as often as you like throughout the whole expo.)
In any case, I look forward to meeting you all on Thursday

Hello Cheandjo- I was going to text you today to say yes still on for Thurs but you are obviously moved in and online now which is great! It took us about a month to get Telstra to sort out the phone line but that another story! Expo sounds great but im a bit babied out at the moment and don't think my legs would put up with chasing after Jake all day- baby is due in 2 weeks!

Miriam are you still okay to give me a lift?

Hi Sophie....yes I'm online (WOOHOO!). We're with TPG and they told us it was going to be at least 2 weeks until we'd be connected...not very good considering I'm doing online university study. I was absolutely thrilled this morning to turn my computer on and notice my internet was connected.
I can understand you feeling all babied out...those last few weeks of pregnancy are horrendous - I certainly don't envy you!
With regards to lifts, I have two seats left in my car however there's already two booster seats in the back so is only enough room for another bottom rather than another seat. If anyone wants a lift on Thursday, please let me know...I'm only too happy to help!

Yes Sophie, I'm still good to pick you up on Thursday, will text you on Wednesday night to confirm the time. Have a good day everyone!!!

Goodmorning

It was lovely to meet you all last week. I just wanted to let you all know that I am organising a lunch in the Park for Tiffany's birthday this week. It will be on Thursday at about 12pm - haven't decided on the park yet but it's likely going to be close to Tiff's place. I've got the event on Facebook (my username is wendy75 if you wanted to add me / or you can find me via Tiff/Ben or Ally's friend list) and will be updating that as more details come to hand but will pop back in again with details.

Hope you are all having a great weekend. We are off to a BBQ with friends soon and then a lazy evening at home.

Hi girls

It was great meeting you and your gorgeous kids last week....not to mention being able to finally put faces to the emails and messages.

Unfortunately the boys and I will be unable to catch up with you again this week....I've got a fairly hectic schedule of study and exams, family over from NZ, meeting with the BBSS principal, followed by more visitors at the weekend. Have a great time and keep me posted for the following week.

Sistersoph - if I don't see you beforehand and bub decides to arrive early, best of luck, I hope everything goes smoothly and you get to come home as quickly as you are hoping, and I look forward to meeting the new arrival next time.

I hope you all have a fantastic week, and I'll see you all soon

Hi gilrs,
Sorry I wasn't online for a few days. I think I've got a nesting syndrome - I've been washing cupboards, curtains, walls and just about everything these days and still have quite a bit to go!Can't believe how slow I am!!!Very frustrating. So anyway - I won't be able to meet this week, but next week should be fine. Except Wednesday - my weekly OB check up is in the morning. Sophie - I hope I can see you before your little one arrives.

Hi
I am a midwife and would be interested to know your experiences with giving birth in the local hospitals - what you were happy about, did you have epidurals, Caesers or normal deliveries?? I will start work at teh RBWH on the 20 July and it would be nice to have a bit of input before I start there. If you prefer to email rather you can do so on clanvw@gmail.com.
And Enjoy your birth for those expecting any day now!! It is AWESOME, I have 4 children and could go on and on just to go through the birthing - it was such a positive experience. I have had 2 normal deliveries, a complicated and difficult delivery and my last one was a Caeser so I have pretty much had them all!!

Hi everyone.

This is a great idea! I don't know about that other forum that everyone is talking about - will check it out later. Also realised I know someone on here already - hi Katryna! lol.

I have a 3 year old girl and a almost 1 yo boy. I am about to start back full time work this week which I have mixed feelings about. I was unable to negotiate part-time unfortunately.

Does anyone else here work full-time? It is very difficult to meet other families when working all the time. We have some great friends in here but I am a more the merrier type of person!!!

Jacky - I have given birth to both my kids at the RBWH. My daughter was in the birth centre - it was fabulous. I had the best birth ever. I can not rate the birth centre model of care enough. Then for my boy I did not get into the birth centre (and was devastated!) but because we were still living in town then I went to the RBWH anyways. Also a fabulous experience. I managed to avoid intervention with both of them.

Anyway if any of you are ever heading to the park on the weekend let me know and I'll bring the kids down.

Hey mak thanks for the feedback, not too sure what you mean by the birth centre but will find out soon enough. Do you guys have your won paediatricians from birth and see them when your child is ill? How does it work with sick kids??
BTW I will be a full time working mom too and it is damn hard but then we can play on our off days....even though they are few and far between. And when the kids drive us mad off we toodle to work. I take my hat off to full time moms as I think I would ahve strangled mine if I had them 24/7, nagging in my ear, screaming in frustration and crying when they don't get their own way. Hallelujah for work!! I say!! Jokes aside I miss them awfully when I don't get to see them all the time too - it is a catch 22 situation I'm afraid.

Hello- no baby so far due on Thurs and I will be having him/she at Redcliffe. My son was born in the UK so this will be my first birth in Australia so fingers crossed it all goes to plan. Katryna have you been to any of the playgroups in the area? I go to a nice one at Kallanger run by the church (not religious though) on a Friday morning, they have loads of toys and are really well organised with different craft tables and painting and singing etc. I take my three year old boy and he loves it.

We can certainly organise a Friday to meet up anyway. I can't really organise much in advance at the mo incase baby makes an appearance. Mak my partner works on a Sat so I am normally around if you fancy a meet up.
