I'm pregnant with my first and I'm due on 17th July. We moved to North Lakes with my husband 2.5 years ago and from that time I'm working in the city - so don't really know many people here. I'm looking for other expactant or young mums in the area that are interested in meeting for a coffee or just a baby chat as it's only me and my husband here (the rest of our families are back in Europe) and he is not exactly the ideal person for a baby chat :o) I'm still working full-time, but starting maternity leave in 2 weeks and I'm already freaking out that I'm going to go crazy without anybody around. Thank you Miriam |

Hi Miriam, A good website for support is www.bubhub.com.au in the forum section, you can find out about mum's in your area under Queensland, Brisbane. Also, there is a free Child Health Clinic that operates every Monday from 9.30 - 11.30am where Mum's can come and have a chat to Child Health Nurse Sharon Armstrong. The Child Health Clinic operates out of Family Wellness Chiropractic North Lakes, at 9/12 North Lakes Drive, North Lakes. No appointments are necessary. You can have your baby weighed and talk about any feeding, sleeping or settling techniques with Sharon. I believe they will be starting a Baby Club soon where Mum's can meet and chat with other Mum's. Hope this helps..... |

Hi Miriam! Another good web site is www.essentialbaby.com.au. You know this already though as I've told you about it before. My DW said to say to you that you should visit the "Nth Lakes and Redcliffe Chat" thread on EB and get to know the ladies there. They're all very nice. They're the ones I told you about who came to our house and got very drunk and sang into SingStar all night, until I drove them all home at 3am. (Shudder) See you on the train! NB The NL thread is at: ...Essential Baby Forums > Meet other Members > Queensland > Nth Lakes, Redcliffe Chat |

Hello i'm 26 and we moved to North lakes about 2 months ago from the UK (my partner is from this area though). I have a 3 year old son and am expecting our next baby on the 2nd July. I don't know many people yet so if you would like to pop round for a cuppa etc let me know. |

Hi sistersoph, you too should visit the EB or Bubhub forums. They're great for keeping in touch with other parents, in the area and out of the area. BTW, do you sing? |

Hi sistersoph and Miriam. I'm 28 and moving to NL (Woodside) next week. While I'm not expecting, I have three boys aged 8.5, 2.5 and 15 months. I don't know anyone locally and am keen to meet some other mums with similar aged children in the area, if either or both of you are interested. |

Hi Chanelle. As mentioned above my family and I are moving to North Lakes next week. Whereabouts in NZ are you from? My hubby's from Hamilton. We're moving into Woodside - which area are you in? I'm keen to meet over coffee one day once we're all settled in. Feel free to contact me on jodana_h@hotmail.com if you're interested. |

Hi Chanelle- where abouts in North Lakes are you? There seems to be quite a few of us now who have moved to the area or just looking to meet some more people. May as well organise a big meet up and we can all have a coffee and a chat- we could meet at the shopping centre, in the park bit of the food court (that way those with the bigger kids can let them play without having to persuade them to sit on their seats for more than 5 mins!).

Just to point out to the newbies, although it is mentioned earlier in this thread, the North Lakes & Redcliffe Chat thread on the Essential Baby forum is open to all who want to join in. My wife is on there along with other local mums and they meet up regularly. They need more new faces though. So for those of you who are new to Oz and don't know many people, you might want to check it out: www.essentialbaby.com.au Click on Forums > Meet other Members > Queensland > North Lakes, Redcliffe Chat PS Hi Miriam! |

Hi Miriam. I'm moving into the top end of Woodside, so there's a little bit of distance between us. Thursday suits me though I won't be able to make it until Thursday 18th June (as we don't move down there until the 13th). Anytime of the day is fine with me. Looking forward to meeting you all. |

I can do next Thursday, mid morning is better for me- about 10.30/ 11 am would suit us well but can do afternoon if people cant make it in morning, can do the following Thurs 18th also (as long as baby doesn't make an early appearance). once Cheandjo has moved in. Chanelle are you about? Kirk- I have started chatting to the ladies on the other forum so will see if any of them are about on Thursdays for a coffee also! Miriam I think my address is classed as Crestwood- we are off Copeland drive- Everard St. Where abouts are you |

Hello, I'm Wendy and one of the "loonies" that Kirk was talking about. While I don't live in North Lakes I'm only 5mins away in Murrumba Downs. Miriam & Sophie I've spoken to you via the Essential Baby website. I'd love to meet up with you all but not sure about Thursday, we usually go to playgroup at that time. My husband is also from NZ (Papakura) but has been here for 13yrs now. Anyway looking forward to meeting you all. Miriam & Sophie, I hope you both have a good last week at work. We'd love to see you all post in the Nth Lakes thread, they are a great bunch of ladies. There are other very helpful threads especially having a newborn but there are plenty of ridiculous threads that are great for a laugh. http://members.essentialbaby.com.au/index.php?showtopic=684300&st=50 |

Another kiwi North Lakes mummy here as well!! I might have to check out these essential baby forums - but like the idea of bringing them over to this site I have *almost* 4 and 6 year old daughters. No babies in this household... at the moment! For those of you who didn't know, there is a playgroup at the sports club/community hall beside Sesame Lane on Discovery Drive - on a Wednesday morning. And on Thursday mornings, there is story time at the library at 0930. Not that I go to either of these - due to not having a car during the week... (and not being a playgroup mummy - I prefer the coffee group setting!!). I do love going down to the mall and letting my lil miss have a play on the playground during the week, while I chat and drink coffee though |
